  • The report was presented by Chairman of the committee, Sen. Abdul Ningi (PDP Bauchi).
  • Ningi, while presenting the report, said out of the 19 persons nominated, 17 appeared for the screening

The nomination of 17 out of the 19 individuals that President Bola Tinubu forwarded to the Nigerian Senate to serve as Commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC) has been ratified by the Senate on Wednesday.

The confirmation came after a report from the Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi-chaired Senate Committee on National Identity Card and Population.

According to Ningi’s report, President Bola Tinubu was authorized to designate 19 individuals as Commissioners of the National Population Commission, and 17 of the nominees offered themselves up for screening after submitting their names to the National Assembly.

They were all screened and found worthy, except two of the nominees from Ondo and Ogun States who had been engaged before their appointment, hence, he was seeking the confirmation of the Chamber for 17 persons.
