  • Federal government enters global outsourcing market, launching OTNI to create job opportunities for Nigerian youths, aiming for economic growth
  • Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia highlights Nigeria’s potential in outsourcing, urging state governors to emulate Gombe’s initiative to create employment

The federal government has announced its entry into the global outsourcing market, which boasts nearly $350 billion in revenue, aiming to leverage its vast job opportunities for Nigeria’s youth population.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to launch the Outsource To Nigeria Initiative (OTNI) in Gombe State on Monday. The initiative, a private sector-led program facilitated by the Office of the Vice President, aims to create employment opportunities in the business process and technology-enabled outsourcing sector.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), highlighted OTNI’s potential to secure job opportunities for Nigerian youths rapidly. He emphasized the significant job prospects within the global outsourcing market, which generated nearly $350 billion in revenue in 2023 across seven top participating countries.

Hadejia underscored the favourable position of Nigeria in the global outsourcing landscape, citing factors such as the English-speaking population, improved IT infrastructure, and a skilled workforce. He emphasized that capturing a substantial portion of this market could position outsourcing as a key alternative to oil and become a major employer for Nigeria’s youth demographic.

Encouraging other state governors to follow Gombe’s lead, Hadejia urged them to seize the opportunity presented by the OTNI launch to create quality employment opportunities for youths in their respective states.

Amal Hassan, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Outsource Global, expressed optimism about the impact of OTNI on Nigeria’s outsourcing sector. She emphasized that the simultaneous launch of OTNI in Gombe, Abuja, and Kaduna would mark a significant milestone in the country’s business process and outsourcing industry.
