  • Ahead of Champions League clash against Porto, Arteta urges team to seize opportunity to turn things around at Emirates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed satisfaction with his team’s position at the Premier League standings, especially after witnessing a captivating clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.

As Arsenal leads the league, closely followed by Liverpool and City, Arteta praised the thrilling title race. He highlighted Arsenal’s remarkable eighth consecutive league win against Brentford, further strengthening their position.

“It’s great to be top, that’s for sure – it was an amazing game of football with two magnificent teams, with so many alternatives,” Arteta commented during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Champions League clash against Porto.

Arteta emphasized the ambition to maintain their top position and acknowledged the challenge of facing Porto in the Champions League. Despite a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, Arteta urged the team to seize the opportunity to turn things around at the Emirates.

“That’s the opportunity we have tomorrow, in front of our people and our stadium. For 96 minutes bring your energy, bring your noise and let’s do it together,” Arteta urged.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s previous encounter with Porto, Arteta acknowledged the need for improvement but remained confident in his team’s ability to perform better.

“We’ll just focus on being ourselves and do more of the things we can control better than we did a few weeks ago,” Arteta affirmed.

However, Arsenal will face Porto without Gabriel Martinelli, who is sidelined with a foot injury.

As Arsenal strives for domestic and European success, Arteta’s leadership and strategic approach aim to propel the team to victory against formidable opponents like Porto.
