  • The Embassy of Angola in Nigeria plans to open a visa application center in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, eliminating travel to Abuja or Lagos
  • The center, a collaboration with Akwa Helmes International Limited, aims to streamline visa processes and promote investment and tourism

The Embassy of Angola in Nigeria has announced plans to inaugurate a visa application centre in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on Tuesday. This will eliminate the necessity for applicants to travel to Abuja or Lagos.

In a statement released on Sunday, the embassy disclosed that the opening ceremony is scheduled to commemorate April 4th, observed as the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation in Angola.

The centre’s establishment, a collaborative effort between the Embassy of Angola in Nigeria and Akwa Helmes International Limited (AHIL), aims to streamline visa application processes, enhance investment opportunities, bolster support for the oil and gas sector, and promote sun-sea and adventure tourism.

The services offered by the centre will encompass visa applications, facilitation of investment ventures, assistance for the oil and gas industry, and promotion of tourism activities. Additionally, it will facilitate hotel reservations, ticket bookings, and air travel arrangements to destinations serviced by Angola’s national carrier, TAAG.

According to the statement, the special guest at the inauguration ceremony will be Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State. His presence underscores the event’s significance in fostering economic, cultural, and tourist relations between Angola and Nigeria.

Port Harcourt, situated in Rivers State with a population of approximately 10 million people, holds strategic importance as it is located within the Niger Delta region, a hub for petroleum and petrochemical industries. The city hosts two major state-owned refineries, two seaports, universities, and scientific and technological institutes.

Recognizing Port Harcourt’s importance as a source of skilled manpower for Angola’s oil and gas sector, local authorities aim to enhance academic cooperation through training programs and technical internships in collaboration with institutes specialized in the oil and gas industry.
