  • Nigeria’s Democracy Day was marked on May 29 but was moved to June 12 in 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari

This year’s Democracy Day celebration will kick off with a symposium on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the Federal Government said on Sunday.

The symposium is billed to hold at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 9 am.

Then by 6 pm on the same day, a youth conference will be held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

This is according to a statement on Sunday by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Abdulhakeem Adeoye.

The statement read, “The programmes lined up for the celebration include a symposium on Tuesday, June 11, at 9:00 am at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“Later that day, a youth conference will be held at Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, at 6 pm.

“A grand parade will take place on Wednesday, June 12, at 8 am at Eagle Square, Abuja,” followed by “a dinner at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 6 pm”.

Recall that Nigeria’s Democracy Day was marked on May 29 but was moved to June 12 in 2018 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The change was done to honour the acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, the late Moshood Abiola.
