The Zamfara State Government has imposed a curfew on motorcycle movement between evening and morning hours to address the widespread insecurity plaguing the state.
This decision was publicly announced through an official statement released by the governor’s media aide, Jaafaru Mustapha Kaura, in the state capital, Gusau.
The move was agreed upon during a high-level security meeting convened by Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House.
According to the statement, Governor Dauda Lawal said that the measure was taken at the security meeting held at the Government House in Gusau.
The statement further indicated that the governor expressed dismay over the continuous banditry activities in the state, stating that his administration is implementing formidable strategies to address the insecurity issue in the state.
He, however, commended the military and security agencies for their efforts in fighting the bandits, urging them to redouble their efforts.
Recall that the immediate past governor of the state, now a minister, Bello Mohammed, had during his tenure banned motorcycle riders from operating at night, yet it didn’t produce any beneficial results.
The former governor also shut down telecommunication networks across the state to arrest the situation, but nothing worked out as expected.
