  • The Lagos State Government increased daily Blue Line rail trips from 54 to 72, reducing travel time between Marina and Mile 2
  • Commuters will benefit from a 25% fare discount during off-peak hours, encouraging more usage of the rail system

The Lagos State Government has announced increased daily passenger trips on the Blue Line rail from 54 to 72. Engr revealed this update. Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

According to Akinajo, the travel time between Marina and Mile 2 has been reduced from 25 minutes to approximately 18 minutes. This improvement means trains will run every 18 minutes in both directions, allowing commuters to plan their journeys better.

“The new train schedule is expected to significantly reduce journey times, encourage more people to use the train system during off-peak periods, and lower transportation costs,” LAMATA stated on Saturday. The updated timetables are available on the LAMATA website, at stations, and on social media platforms.

Akinajo also mentioned that the current Sunday operation schedule will remain unchanged. Additionally, a 25% discount on fares will be offered to commuters travelling during off-peak periods between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily.
