  • The declaration of August 20 as work-free day followed a promise made last year by Governor Makinde recognising the day as one set aside annually to celebrate traditional worshippers across the state

Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has declared Tuesday, August 20 as a public holiday to mark the 2024 Isese Day.

The declaration was conveyed through a circular issued by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo.

The declaration of August 20 as work-free day followed a promise made last year by Governor Makinde recognising the day as one set aside annually to celebrate traditional worshippers across the state.

The circular enjoined all traditional religion believers and citizens of the state to use the day to pray for the peace, unity and stability of Oyo State in particular, and the country in general.
