  • Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta agrees to a new three-year contract, ending speculation about his future ahead of the Tottenham match
  • Arteta has led Arsenal since 2019, achieving consecutive second-place finishes and an FA Cup victory, transforming the club’s fortunes

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly agreed to a new three-year contract with the Premier League club, ending speculation about his future.

The news, widely reported on Thursday and attributed by AFP to several sources, has yet to be officially confirmed by the club as of Thursday morning.

Arteta, 42, has managed the Gunners since 2019 and has led them to consecutive second-place finishes in the league. He was entering the final 12 months of his previous contract. Last month, Arteta urged calm regarding his contract situation, stating that he focused on the transfer window.

The new contract agreement comes ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League match against London rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

Since leaving his coaching role at Manchester City to succeed Unai Emery at Arsenal, Arteta, a former Arsenal player, has won trophies and turned the club back into a title contender in the Premier League.

In his first season, Arteta led Arsenal to an FA Cup victory. Under his leadership, the Gunners have finished as Premier League runners-up in the past two seasons, closely challenging champions Manchester City.

Arsenal is currently fourth in the league table with two wins and a draw. They are set to begin their Champions League campaign next week against Atalanta.
