  • NASENI has developed over 30 market-ready products, including smart meters, electric vehicles, and solar irrigation pumps, to drive Nigeria’s technological revolution
  • The agency focuses on accelerating technology transfer and adaptation, boosting the economy by creating jobs and supporting the government’s economic diversification agenda

According to its executive vice chairman and CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has developed over 30 market-ready products within the past year.

During a press briefing at NASENI’s headquarters in Abuja to mark his first anniversary in office, Halilu highlighted these achievements as part of the agency’s efforts to drive a technological revolution in Nigeria.

The products include smart meters, electric vehicles, power storage solutions, laptops, tablets, solar lighting systems, science kits, electric tricycles, and solar irrigation pumps.

Halilu explained that these innovations result from NASENI’s “Accelerated Technology Transfer and Adaptation Strategy,” which aims to fast-track technological advancements in the country.

He emphasized that NASENI’s work, which focuses on homegrown solutions, is helping to create jobs and boost Nigeria’s economy.

The agency also plays a key role in supporting the government’s economic diversification agenda, positioning Nigeria as a competitive global technology and manufacturing player.

In an interview, NASENI’s Director of Technology and Business Development, Engr. Bernard Ozigi, said one of the standout innovations is NASENI’s solar-powered irrigation system, which promises to revolutionise farming by enabling year-round irrigation at no cost to farmers.

“The product has been earmarked for mass production and nationwide distribution,” he said.

To further commercialize NASENI’s products, the agency plans to eliminate prototype stagnation, strengthen partnerships, and establish showrooms in major cities. It is already collaborating with public and private sector partners to scale production.

One of NASENI’s standout innovations is a solar-powered irrigation system designed to enable year-round farming at no cost to farmers.

The agency is also involved in shaping entrepreneurship curricula at six Nigerian universities, helping to equip students with practical skills in technology and entrepreneurship.

Looking ahead, NASENI aims to secure international collaborations to attract significant investment into Nigeria’s technology sector.
