- Okowa described Tinubu as an “action president” ready to take responsibility, stressing his policies were already yielding positive outcomes.
- Declaring support for Tinubu’s re-election, Okowa urged support groups to mobilise ahead of 2027, citing love and resources.
The former governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said President Bola Tinubu is restoring stability and hope to Nigeria.
Okowa made the remark in Abuja on Monday at a national summit organised by the Integrity Group of Nigeria with the theme, ‘Renew Hope Agenda through Continuity’.
He was represented at the event by his former aide on national assembly and inter-governmental relations, Pascal Adigwe.
Okowa urged Nigerians to give Tinubu more time in office, insisting that his policies would bring benefits to the people.
He described the president as an “action president” who has shown readiness to take responsibility unlike previous leaders.
“Tinubu’s decisions might be tough or rough but they are yielding positive results,” he said.
“Tinubu is bringing stability. He’s bringing back hope. He’s taking the bull by the horn. He’s not referring to issues in the past or how the past was governed.
“He promised Nigeria that he will come to the saddle and take responsibility. That is what he has done.”
The former governor openly declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying the president had proven his commitment to the country.
“We have come, not with liability but assets to make what you have built better,” he said.
“We are coming with our experience, with our knowledge of the terrain. We are coming with love. We are coming with resources to better the lot.”
Okowa called on support groups to start preparing the ground for Tinubu’s return in 2027.
Convener of the Integrity Group of Nigeria, Oke Idawene, said Tinubu assumed office prepared and had been working for Nigeria’s prosperity.
“The message of this afternoon is no other than to say never again shall we allow those who are stealing Nigeria’s prosperity to lead us again,” he said.
He noted that access to student loans had improved, while security was also recording progress.
Idawene added that progressive governors were already laying the foundation for Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
Former senator, Binta Garba, said Tinubu turned the country around when he assumed office.
Garba expressed optimism that continuity of the renewed hope agenda in 2027 would make Nigeria a better country.
Former minister of women affairs, Pauline Tallen, urged Nigerians to support the president with prayers.
She said recent APC victories in by-elections and the achievements of Nigerian girls in sports showed good signs for the country.
Pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nora Daduut, commended the group for hosting the summit.
She urged women in particular to sustain the message of the renewed hope initiative.
