Cynthia Morgan is a Nigerian dancehall singer, she’s also called herself Madrina., she came into limelight with her two hit singles titled “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Lead Me On”. She’s renowned for her signature red hair.
Early Life
Cynthia Morgan, born on September 23rd 1991 in Benin City, the South South of Nigeria. She was raised by a single mother who is now a top music gospel artist in Benin City, Nigeria. Growing up was rough for Cynthia as she was rejected by her father when her mother was 20 and pregnant for her.
Education
Cynthia Morgan completed her basic education in Benin City, where she grew up.
Music Career
Her music is a fusion of Pop, Hip Hop, Rap and Dance Hall. At the age of 3, she became a backup singer for her mother’s musical band. At the age of 16 years, Cynthia Morgan decided to go into music professionally. She released her first single “Dutty Stepping” which featured General Pype at 17years right after completing High School and got massive recognition and love from fans all over Nigeria. She grew up around musicians and backup singers from her mother’s musical band since the age of three. In 2008, she moved to Lagos in order to further her music career.
On 22 August 2013, the singer signed a recording contract with Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye-led Northside Entertainment Inc. Few months later, she released two singles “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Lead Me On” which got positive reviews from fans; the latter went on to be nominated for “Best Reggae/Dancehall Single” at The Headies 2014.
In 2015 she released another single titled “German Juice” with which she gained more popularity and fans. 2017, her contract with Northside Entertainment Inc expired and chose not to renew the deal, prioritizing her happiness.
Speaking on why she decided not to renew her deal with the label, she said; “I wasn’t happy with the deal, with the label – with everything. It was business for them, but for me, music is life. We have to be a family, but we weren’t that. I just thought it was time for me to be happy.”
Following her exit from the label, she went on a year hiatus, made a comeback in 2018 under new name ‘Madrina’ and new music titled ‘Billion Dollar Woman’, after launching her own record label, The Cynthia Morgan Company, TCMC.
Since the release of her ‘Lion’ single in 2018, we’ve not heard much from her in the music industry. Cynthia Morgan has performed alongside star musicians like former Psquare, Wizkid, Dbanj and 2Baba.

Scandals
In 2016, picture of Cynthia Morgan kissing Banky W surfaced online, with speculations that the two musicians were an item, but it was later discovered to be untrue.
Tax and rent debt scandals reportedly hit Madrina in 2018 while she was on music hiatus. She was charged to the Ikeja High Court for failure to pay her rent at her Omole apartment. It was learnt that on the same day the artiste was served court papers for defaulting on payment of rent, she was also served with court papers for evading tax.
A source close to the owner of the apartment where Cynthia Morgan was charged to court told Saturday Beats she owed N1.3m. When a call was placed across to Cynthia Morgan’s phone, her representative who identified himself simply as Maze denied the fact that she owed money.
He said, “I do not know of anything like that and I would say that it is a lie. I do not know about any court papers, so I would say that it is a lie. To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware that she owes her landlord any money. I believe that if they claim she smokes, entertains strange guests and leaves the gate open at odd hours, they should have proof. In my book, none of this statement is factual. I don’t know about these details and I would say that it is a lie.”
Personal Life
Little is known about Cynthia Morgan’s personal life. She has been linked to dating Dammy Krane and Burna Boy, but she later debunked the rumours. Cynthia confessed that she has a crush on Davido. She considers him to be a hardworking and persistent person. Madrina isn’t married.
