A gang of armed robbers who went to rob in an estate in Lekki met their waterloo as they embarked on their operation unknowningly that a senior police officer was in the vicinity.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the men were carrying out their operation in the area at the same time a senior police officer was visiting the estate.
According to report, the officer immediately called for backup and other officers arrived in a short while, combacted and eventually neutralized the robbers.
The robbery gang which was made up of five men were involved in the operation.
It was further learnt that a young man under the age of 20 was shot in the leg and used as bait to lure out the rest of the gang.
Four of the men were reportedly killed leaving the fifth one who was shot in the leg lying helplessly on ground.
He also provided the authorities with information on how the gang members gather information before they begin an operation.
