6-week old baby becomes the youngest victim to die from COVID-19 in England

After testing positive for coronavirus, a six-week-old baby became the youngest victim to die from virus in England.

Bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in England’s hospitals to 22,764,NHS England said the baby was among 332 people who have died after testing positive for the virus,

The oldest patient was 103, and 22 of the 332 people -aged between 40 and 96, had no known underlying health conditions.

Of the 332 deaths announced today, NHS England said 58 were from 7 May, 124 from 6 May, and 41 from 5 May.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 now stands at 33,615 with more than 200,000 cases.

In other news, Lagos State government on Friday projected that coronavirus cases may increase to 120,000 in the state by July.

The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi said Lagos may possibly record between 90,000 and 120,000 cases of COVID-19 by July or August.

He said with the current trend, the COVID-19 cases in Lagos is expected to reach its peak by the above stated period.
