Days after a video of LASTMA officers counting money allegedly extorted from road users went viral, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has reacted to the viral video.

Recall that a yet-to-be identified female LASTMA staff is seen holding the money before handling it over to another female staff to count in the viral video.

According to the man who uploaded the video on social media platform, it was a male staff named Officer Hunpegan that asked them to pay 50,000 Naira before they’ll be released.

The man said the officer gave the money to his assistants to count before leaving the office.

Reacting to the video, LASTMA said they are carrying out an investigation.

They tweeted: “Our attention has been drawn to the recent video making rounds about extortion from our officers.

The Agency has taken note of this even as investigation has commenced.

The officers involved will be summoned for subsequent disciplinary action, if found guilty. @jidesanwoolu.

“We urge the public to continue to report any errant officer(s) to the agency via any of the channels provided.@followlasg.”
