Two newly recruited Constables of the Durbar Police station in Oyo and a member of the Discipline Intelligent Group of Nigeria (DIGON),Oparemi Goke and Ogunyemi Mujeeb, have died while chasing weed smokers.
The security operatives drowned around 7:30pm on Sunday July 12, 2020, at Awerintu river, Oke Eletu, while chasing the hoodlums who ran towards a bridge washed away by the flood.
The policemen had followed one of the hoodlums into water he jumped into but got swallowed by mud. Their corpses were recovered in the late hours of the same day.
In other news, some operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad some months ago, reportedly crushed the leg of a little boy while chasing the suspected fraudster, in a bid to arrest a suspected internet fraudster,
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the SARS operatives met their waterloo as they were beaten by the residents of the community who demanded for an explanation.
According to report, three of the SARS officers escaped after the incident occurred at Ajayi Street in Agege area of Lagos state while two of the security operatives were apprehended.Read more here.
