Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, has expressed confidence that he will defeat Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, on Saturday.

Ajayi is the flagbearer of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

He spoke on Wednesday in Owo Local Government Area during his campaign tour.

Ajayi boasted on victory, adding that he will be declared winner of the governorship poll.

On violence, he told security agencies to protect lives and property.

The deputy governor appealed to residents not to panic.

Ajayi advised his supporters not to take arms but go out and vote.

“We are here to campaign. We are not here to fight anybody. Please, don’t allow anybody to provoke you. Vote and protect your votes,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, an Akure-based lawyer, Femi Emmanuel Emodamori, has asked an Ondo State High Court to disqualify the governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Mr. Agboola Ajayi, from contesting Saturday’s election for allegedly submitting forged certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The suit has ZLP and INEC as the 2nd and 3rd defendants.

An Abuja Federal High Court had issued an order of mandamus to compel INEC to publish the particulars of Ajayi.

Besides the disqualification, Emodamori is also seeking an order of the court compelling INEC to stop or withdraw the recognition accorded Ajayi as the candidate of the ZLP.
