Kano Police nab armourer of kidnap syndicate who abducted expatriate, killed police sergeant two years ago

The Kano State Police Command have arrested the suspected armourer of the kidnap syndicate that abducted a German national and killed his police escort two years ago.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls how gunmen on Monday, April 16, 2018, killed a police sergeant, Rabilu Haruna and abducted the 59-year-old German engineer with Dantata & Sawoe, Mr Krese Frank Michael along Sabon Titi, Madobi Road, Kano.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the latest development in a statement on Thursday, December 24, said that the suspect, Abubakar Ismail, 30, led detectives to their armoury where one AK47 rifle, a single barrel gun, and a revolver were recovered.

“In continued investigation of a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and Culpable Homicide reported on 16/04/2018, at about 1745hrs, that unknown Gunmen numbering about Four and armed with sophisticated guns attacked and killed a Police Officer, Sergeant Rabilu Haruna and made away with his Rifle containing Fifteen (15) rounds of live ammunitions and kidnapped one Mr. Kreser Frank Michael ‘m’, 59 years, a German National,* and staff attached to Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company Ltd Kano along Madobi Road Construction Site and, the Kano State Police Command,” the statement reads.

“CP Habu A. Sani on his arrival into the State on 21/11/2019, reviewed the case and raised a team of Operation Puff Adder led by DSP Dahiru Shehu to join the detectives and follow-up for possible arrest of the culprits. On credible information, the Armourer of the syndicate, one Abubakar Ismail ‘m’, 30 years, of Wangara Village in Rimin Gado LGA, Kano State, was arrested on the 19/12/2020, i.e. Thirty Two (32) months after the incident,”

“The Suspect led the combine operatives to their Armoury at their Village where one (1) AK-47 Rifle, one (1) Single Barrel Gun and a Revolver Gun were recovered. The suspect confessed to the crime and confessed that the syndicate has been terrorizing Rimin Gado, Gwarzo, Karaye, Kiru, Rano, Bebeji Tudun Wada and other neighboring States, including Kaduna and Katsina for over five (5) years

“He named other members of the syndicate who perpetuated the heinous act. Discrete investigation is in progress to arrest the other members of the syndicate.”
