Last year, Nigerian senator Ned Nwoko and actress Regina Daniels made headlines and dominated social media discourse. But not for the best reasons. The simmering tension and private rift that have characterised their marriage became a full-blown marital crisis that was occasioned by accusations of drug abuse, reprehensible behaviour and a family feud.
The couple would later go their separate ways. However, after months of living separately, indications suggest the previously estranged couple may now be back together after a new video of Regina in Nwoko’s house went viral on social media. Rumours about Regina getting back with Nwoko started swirling after she briefly appeared in a live video believed to have been streamed from her husband Ned Nwoko’s residence.
In the now-viral video on social media, Regina was seen briefly in the background during an Instagram Live session hosted by Amir, one of Ned Nwoko’s sons.
The actress, who seemed oblivious to the fact that she was being shown in the live video, snapped after realising she was in the livestream and ordered Amir to end the live broadcast immediately. “Cut it, cut it,” she yelled as she moved away from the camera.
The clip has since sparked speculation that Regina may have reunited with her billionaire husband months after reports of marital troubles and claims that she would not return to the marriage. Although neither Regina nor Ned Nwoko has officially confirmed or denied the reunion, many social media users asserted that the viral clip is proof that the actress has returned to the family home.
Regina and Ned’s marriage has rocked by rifts and confrontation that repeatedly drew intense public attention.
Reacting to the footage of Regina in Ned’s house, Social media sensation, VeryDarkMan, said the development has vindicated him, recalling how he was excoriated for throwing his weight Nwoko during the period of the couple’s alleged marital crisis. According to him, many people came after him and labelled him a misogynist for refusing to join the band of those castigating the politician at the time.
“Alright, so we are going to acknowledge the elephant in the room. Regina Daniels has gone back to her husband. I’m very, very happy because I want to see you people make posts again,” he said.
VDM also rejected narrative by some social media users that Regina may have been forced to reunite Nwoko because of her children, arguing that such explanations contradicts earlier narratives surrounding her reported separation. He insisted that many of the criticisms directed at him during the controversy were unfair.
Mixed reactions have trailed the video among netizens, while some believe it is too early to say what the current status of their marriage is, as one cannot reach a conclusion based on a few seconds’ clip; others felt the video can simply mean one thing, which is that she is back with the senator.
