Operatives of Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested some petroleum tankers for shutting down filling stations in Kano state.

These tanker drivers reportedly shut down filling stations as a means of protest over the arrest of four of its members for alleged attempt to smuggle petroleum products out of the country.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the tanker drivers were arrested on Tuesday February 18, on charges of illegally closing down filling stations.

Reacting to the development, a DSS operative confitmed the incident and told newsmen that eight filling stations shut down by the PTD members, had already been opened.

The DSS operative said;

“We have arrested so many of them for closing down filling stations without justifications, This is because we cannot allow lawlessness in the State”.

Spokesman of Kano’s command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Danbaba lsah confirmed the arrest of the tanker drivers at a border town of Katsina state.

He also said one of the drivers was released after investigation revealed he was genuinely distributing the product to road constructors.
