For a couple of days now in Nigeria, #EndSars has been trending on Twitter. It is a hashtag set to end and expose the brutality of Police and most especially the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS).

The SARS unit of the Nigerian police has been accused of assaulting youths in the country as they allegedly conduct illegal search, arrest, kill, rape and even confiscating of properties.

Some prominent voices like the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and a global rights group, Amnesty International have condemned the recurring SARS brutality, calling on the Federal Government to reform SARS.

On October 3, a video trended online where an alleged SARS official was said to have shot a woman and drove off with her boyfriend’s car in Delta State.
