Burna Boy Joins Davido, Wizkid As Hit-Track ‘Ye’ Gets Gold Certification In US

Burna Boy joins his Nigerian peers, Davido and Wizkid, to achieve the gold certification feat for his song in the United States of America. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified Burna Boy’s successful song, ‘Ye’ gold.

‘Ye’ by Burna Boy, produced by talented Nigerian music producer, Phantom, was released on August 6, 2018. It is the sixth track off his third studio album, ‘Outside’.

The 29 years old joined the list of growing Nigerians to be recognised by RIAA. The body acknowledged Davido for the triumph of his songs, ‘If’ and ‘Fall’. ‘Come Closer’ by ‘Wizkid’ also got the certified gold title.

RIAA awards certification is based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets, while a gold record is a single or album that sells 500,000 units (records, tapes or compact discs).

Burna Boy recently won the 2021 Grammy Award for ‘Best Global Music Album’ for his ‘Twice as Tall’ album, amongst other prestigious international recognitions he has received in the past three years that his music got more attention from more audience worldwide.
