MOBO AWARDS: Wizkid Beats Drake, Kanye West, Others To Win ‘Best International Act’, ‘Best African Music Act’

Drake, Wizkid and Kanye West

Nigerian superstar Wizkid shines brightly at the 2021 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards. He won the ‘Best International Act’ and the ‘Best African Music Act’

The ‘Ojuelegba’ singer emerged as one of the biggest winners with two plaques, beating Drake, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion in the international category. Wizkid also defeated Davido, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy and King Promise to win the African category.

MOBO Awards 2021 returned as a live show – held at Coventry Building Society Arena – for the first time since 2017, after there were no awards in 2018 and 2019 and only a virtual ceremony in 2020.

The show was hosted by Munya Chawawa and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, it featured live performances by Ghetts, Pa Salieu, Stefflon Don, Ms Banks, Bree Runway, Potter Payper, Tems, NSG and Enny.

Wizkid is now the most awarded African in the history of MOBO Awards. His total plaques at the award event are now five.
