Boomplay and Merlin extends services to 47 additional African countries

Africa’s leading music streaming service, Boomplay, and its independent digital music licensing partner, Merlin have revealed plans to expand their licensing agreement to make their services available to an additional 47 countries in Africa.

Recall that Merlin, in 2019 had signed a licensing deal that covers 11 countries with Boomplay, a music streaming platform that currently has over 60 million monthly active users, along with a wide catalog of over 65 million tracks, housing the most extensive catalog of African content globally.

What the expansion of Boomplay’s licensing deal with Merlin means is more reach and access to a wider number of music lovers across the continent due to Merlin’s access to the best local and international music and their incredibly diverse catalogs.

It is worthy of note that Boomplay has been at the forefront of helping the African music industry in realizing its full potential by securing successful partnerships with the world’s largest labels and distributors, actively supporting artists through various promotions and sponsorships, among other things, and facilitating collaborations aimed at reducing data costs for African music fans.
