Nigerian musician Mayorkun has narrated how he felt when he first got a Direct Message (DM) from Davido, requesting for his WhatsApp number ahead of signing an official record label deal with the 30-year-old.

Mayorkun, a former banker and the son of popular actress Toyin Adewale, shared that he had made a cover of Davido’s song, ‘The Money’, featuring rapper Olamide, which he posted on Twitter a while after.

The 27-year-old said he posted the video for the cover song to be able to delete it off his mobile phone, but Davido responded in his DM.

Sharing how he felt when he got Davido’s message, Mayorkun said… Watch the video below.

Mayorkun got signed into Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, label in 2016, where he spent five years. In 2021, he departed the record label to join Sony Music Africa.
