Legendary musician Angelique Kidjo has won the Best Global Music Album award at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The Beninese musician knocked off Nigerian singers Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Made Kuti, Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni and Daniel Ho & Friends to secure the Grammy plaque on Sunday night, April 3, 2022.
During her speech, Angelique said it was a big win for Africa. She also appreciated the young artistes in Africa putting the continent on good spotlight.
The night’s win made it the fourth time Angélique Kidjo has grabbed a Grammy award. “Congrats Best Global Music Album winner – ‘Mother Nature’ @angeliquekidjo #GRAMMYs,” Grammy organisers tweeted on their official Twitter page.
