How I thought I was going to die – Actress Regina Chukwu recounts near-death experience

Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu is grateful to be alive after a near-death experience on a movie set.

Expressing her appreciation to God and colleagues who reached out to her, Regina Chukwu stressed that malaria is a killer disease.

She made this known in a post shared on her Instagram page, after suffering from malaria at a movie location.

Regina Chukwu said she had thought she was going to die because she had never felt sick in such a manner in the whole of her life.

She wrote: “Malaria na your mate. That was the gift I came back with from location….. I tot I was gonna die! Never felt this sick before my whole life. Malaria is truly a killer disease o. GOD IS GOOD. Recuperating and I am thankful.”

Earlier in the month, Regina Chukwu went down memory lane on daughter’s 21st birthday 6th April 2022.

In the tearful post shared on her Instagram page, Regina Chukwu recounts that being a widow in her 20s became the most painful, confused, devastating and excruciating time.

According to Regina Chukwu, when her husband died, they had nothing on them as they had spent everything on his health, but now, all she could say was thank you to God.

She wrote:

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY HER MOTHER’S DAUGHTER! It’s my first child and only biological daughter’s 21th birthday

“It’s been a great journey getting here, and looking back all I can murmur under my breath is ‘we made it here’ THANK YOU LORD

“Permit me to take y’all on a short journey down memory lane (a bit emotional this morning)
So it happened that, when I had to take my sick husband (now late) back to the village as I have exhausted all avenues possible to see that his health improves, so I decided to take him back to his parents so we could all knw what next to do.

“I left Amaka with my parents back here in Lagos and went with the little baby I just had. After some months their father eventually died and I was shattered, turning a widow at that young age wasn’t something I had bargained for, it was indeed the most confused, painful, devastating, excruciating time of my life (still is) I didn’t even knw what to feel or do.

“Now as the customs of the Land is children had to be present, I had one with me, so my mum brought Chiamaka who was just 2yr old then, the little girl was just so happy to see mummy, every other thing she doesn’t understand (lol) I looked at her and fresh tears made their ways down my cheek, I said to myself ‘how I go take do am now’ in my 20’s with 2 kids HOW REGINA, HOW’ remember, I was sitting down there with ZERO NAIRA BALANCE, we had spent everything we had trying to save their fathers life, no even a good piece of cloth to my name …… so sorry guys tears won’t let me continue …. Gat to stop here”
