Canadian singer Drake has been declared the most Shazamed artist of all time after he received over 350 million searches across all his songs on the music platform.
Drake’s record was contained on the list of noteworthy moments for the Shazam as the digital platform celebrates 20-year anniversary. The list released by Shazam contains the most Shazamed song by genre, the first-ever Shazamed song, and more.
The singer’s searches combined his personal music and songs he featured on as a guest artiste, while his most popular track, ‘One Dance,’ has over 17 million Shazams.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ 2012 single “Can’t Hold Us,” featuring Ray Dalton, was declared the most Shazamed Hip-Hop song of all time. Likewise, Lil Wayne was the first artist to crack over one million and 10 million Shazams, achieving the feats in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
The first-ever Shazamed song was T.Rex’s “Jeepster” on April 19, 2002. BTS’s “Butter” was the fastest track to reach one million songs (9 days). Eminem’s “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” was the first track to score 1,000 Shazams in Sept. 2002, and Kesha’s “Tik Tok” is the most Shazamed song ever, with over 41 million.
Shazam originally launched in August 2002 as a text messaging service in the United Kingdom, which allowed people to identify songs simply by texting 2580 and allowing a portion of the song to play. Shazam would then send a follow up text message with the song’s title and the artist’s name.
