As 2023 Election Draws Near, Burna Boy Displays Niger-Delta’s Hardships In Video For ‘Whisky’ (Watch)

Burna Boy has released a thought-provoking documentary video for his track, ‘Whiskey,’ off his latest studio album, ‘Love, Damini.’

This is Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, expressing his love for his people in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria by telling their stories in a 16-minute-long mini-documentary solely dedicated to them. The Niger Delta region comprises nine states, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Abia, Imo, Bayelsa, River, Akwa-Ibom, and Ondo.

With his music as a social activism tool to speak out and a weapon to fight for his people, Burna Boy presents the documentary as the voice of the voiceless. He uses raw visual representations to capture the situation of the destitute masses and show the world what they are really up against.

As a result of the oil exploration in the region, locals face health problems, homelessness, and food insecurity. Burna Boy once referred to Nigerians as the “kings of suffering and smiling” in an interview with Crack Magazine and depicted it in the documentary.

Burna Boy, a native of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, picked a pretty ideal moment to spotlight the numerous catastrophes facing the Niger-Deltans, and to urge the soon-to-be-elected new government to assist them when they come into power in 2023.
