Barely a week after the release of Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ album, a critic calls it the singer’s ‘poorest effort’ since the start of his career.

Daniel Regha, a divisive Twitter critic, made the claim in response to the singer’s claim that Twitter influenced the album.

He further slammed Burna Boy for blatantly disparaging Nigerians in the song “Thanks,” which also featured American rapper J. Cole.

In his words;

“Burna’s new album (I Told Them) is a 3/10, it’s the w¤rst effort from Burna since he started his career. The beats are great but the songs had n¤ substance; The entire album also promoted p¤mposity, encouraged v!olence & explicit lyrics.

“Furthermore, the album title doesn’t correlate with the theme. Burna also dissing Nigerians in “Thanks” ft J. Cole was not cool, plus some intros were n¤t necessary. The album was n¤t worth the wait or hype. No offense.”

Other music enthusiasts’ have reacted to the notion in a conflicting way, with some agreeing to it while others disagreeing.

Burna boy in another news, stated that “90% of Afrobeat artists don’t have substance in their music”

Burna Boy claimed in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that the majority of Afrobeat musicians lack life experiences, which renders their music hollow.

He declared that music, in his opinion, ought to be infused with real-world knowledge.

He characterized Afrobeat music as exciting and entertaining but devoid of real-world experiences.

Burna Boy characterized musicians as having their own ups and downs in life,  difficult moments that surround the creation of music.
