Popular Nigerian comedian, actor and emcee, Adeoye Adeyemi Elesho, otherwise known as Yemi Elesho, created a buzz through a recent interview where he discussed his family background and the challenging path he took to achieve stardom.
Yemi recalled how his peers labeled him a “bastard” due to his father’s absence in his life. He recounted leaving his mother and home at the age of 14 to travel to Lagos, where his already renowned father and Veteran Actor, Adewale Elesho, lived.
The Comedian disclosed that he embarked on the journey to locate his father without any home address or phone number to reach him. He detailed the struggles he encountered while navigating through various areas in Lagos.
According to Yemi, he remembered the address of a house belonging to an Alfa in Lagos, and he made his way there. Upon arrival, Yemi revealed that he fabricated a story about his mother’s demise and being all by himself. This was after the Alfa was hesitant to let him stay in his house.
Yemi recounted how the Alfa accompanied him to numerous film sets in Lagos to find his father, but their efforts proved fruitless.
The actor mentioned that eventually, the Alfa gave up and instructed him to leave his house. To avoid being sent away, Yemi cleverly feigned tears while lying on his mat.
In that exact moment of his emotional display, Yemi recalled seeing his father on television, advertising a brand. He exclaimed with happiness, and they managed to note down and contact the phone number that appeared on the TV screen.
Yemi said his dad provided him with a designated meeting spot to be picked up from.
The comedian shared that he anticipated his father’s arrival in a luxurious and sizable vehicle, but much to his astonishment, Baba Adewale Elesho arrived in a scarlet car. The Veteran Actor picked Yemi up and they resided together in Ikorodu for several years.

Not stopping there, Yemi Elesho revealed that his mother, an actress who also worked as a radio presenter at Amuludun FM in Ibadan, was displeased by his decision to leave home at the young age of 14 in search of his father.
He shared that his father had his mother arrested and held in custody upon learning that he had left home while under her care.
Yemi Elesho further explained that his father released his mother after he was found, and he noted that eventually, his mother pardoned him for his actions.
