Nigerian film actress, Laide Bakare has explained why she dislikes kissing and romantic roles in movies.

The Yoruba actress revealed this in an interview with Punch published on Saturday, February 3.

Laide Bakare said playing romantic roles that involve kissing and touching is challenging for her.

In Laide Bakare’s words:

“Portraying romantic roles, especially scenes involving kissing and touching, pose unique challenges for me. Navigating the authenticity required for such moments while maintaining professionalism can be intricate. Balancing the demands of the script with personal comfort adds complexity to these roles, requiring a nuanced approach to ensure a convincing, yet respectful performance.”

Laide Bakare also noted that people were often more focused on her job as an actress, rather than her personality. She added:

“As an actress and filmmaker, my primary challenge has to do with navigating relationships and finding true love. Sometimes, people are attracted to my status and my profession, rather than the essence of who I am. Distinguishing genuine connections from those based on fame then becomes a delicate task.”

The mother of three in a recent interview said she will cheat back on her partner if he is unfaithful to her.

Reacting, Portable in a live video criticized Laide Bakare for advocating retaliation in marriage if a spouse cheats, while issuing a stern warning for her to steer clear of his fourth baby mama, Ashabi and citing concerns about her negative influence.

He cautioned against individuals like Laide Bakare, whom he accused of promoting destructive behaviour that could jeopardize marital relationships, particularly urging her not to influence Ashabi negatively through their interactions.
