Burna Boy goes empty-handed at Grammy awards despite four nominations
  • Despite high expectations, Nigerian Afro fusion star Burna Boy lost all four Grammy nominations at the 66th Annual Awards in Los Angeles.
  • The Nigerian singer was nominated for Best Global Music Album, Best African Music Performance, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
  • Burna Boy faced tough competition in each category, resulting in other artists securing victories.

Nigerian Afro-fusion star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, lost out in all four nominated categories at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles despite receiving nominations in each category.

The Afro-fusion star, who previously won a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album in a previous edition, entered the 66th Grammy Awards with high expectations.

However, the outcome was not in his favour, as he left the star-studded ceremony empty-handed.

Burna Boy received nominations in diverse categories, including Best Global Music Album for his work on “I Told Them…“, the inaugural Best African Music Performance with “City Boys“, Best Global Music Performance for “Alone”, and Best Melodic Rap Performance with “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.”

Despite the anticipation and fervent support from fans, the talented singer faced stiff competition in each of his nominated categories.

The Grammy Awards reportedly recognized other outstanding artists, leaving Burna Boy without any wins.

In other news, Afro-fusion star, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, is set to grace the stage at the 2024 Grammys.

The Recording Academy made the announcement on Monday morning.

The highly acclaimed ‘African Giant’ artist will share the spotlight with chart-topping performers Luke Combs and Travis Scott.

The official statement from the Grammy organizers was shared on their official social media handle

Attention: African Giant @BurnaBoy will take the #GRAMMYs stage on Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @CBS,” the post read.

This announcement adds Burna Boy to an already impressive lineup of performers, including popular artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa.
