Veteran Nigerian singer Timaya has opened up on his dating preferences, revealing reason he doesn’t currently have a Nigerian girlfriend and expressing reservations about dating Nigerian men if he were a woman.

In an interview with Beat 99.9 FM, the singer delved into the intricacies of his dating preferences.

During the interview, Timaya expressed that his choice to steer clear of Nigerian relationships stems from his belief that there’s little excitement in dating someone with a similar background, upbringing, and environment.

The Bayelsa-born artist likened such relationships to a toxic dynamic, drawing a vivid analogy between a police officer and a thief.

During an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Timaya acknowledged his past involvement with drugs, emphasizing that he is not without fault.

Recounting how it started, he stated that it was during the lockdown when he visited some young men who appeared very content and happy despite not having as much as he had.
