- Portable has finally regained his freedom after he was forcibly arrested by the police on Tuesday.
- This was over the 30 year old’s alleged refusal to complete the payment for his G-Wagon which he purchased from a Lagos car dealer.
- As at Wednesday afternoon, he was yet to be released for not meeting his bail conditions.
Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has regained his freedom from the custody of the Lagos State Police Command.
Portable was forcefully arrested on Tuesday, May 14 over his alleged refusal to complete payment for his luxury car, the G-Wagon.
The ‘Zazzu’ crooner had purchased a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 from Ogunsanwo Temitope (Temmy Autos), a car dealer in Lagos but failed to complete the payment.
It was gathered that Portable had paid only N13 million after purchasing the vehicle, which was worth N27 million. He was said to have refused to pay the N14 million balance.
When confronted by the police, the singer jumped a gate and made an attempt to escape but was eventually caught by the officers.
According to the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin on Wednesday afternoon, May 15, the singer will remain in detention pending when he’s able to produce a reliable surety before he can be granted bail.
Hundeyin said:
“He has presented no reliable surety yet so he (Portable) is still with us.”
On Wednesday evening, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benajmin Hundeyin, confirmed the release of the singer to Vanguard.
When asked if Portable had sorted out the issues, the spokesman added, “I have no idea about it but what I can say is that he has been granted bail.”
In mid April, following Bobrisky’s jail sentence, Portable begged for forgiveness over videos of him spraying money in different circumstances, particularly on his fans.
The Zeh Nation label boss, in a trending video, who seems to be scared of the repercussions, vowed not to spray money in public.
