How mum planned surprise wedding for me on dad’s birthday – D’banj

• D’banj has opened up on how his wedding took place many years ago, thanks to his mother.
• The singer recounted that his mum planned a birthday party for his dad and it eventually became his surprise wedding.
• D’banj as he shared explicit details on how his mum was able to successfully pull it off added that his brother, D’Prince was equally surprised.

Nigerian singer and media personality Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name, Dbanj, has recounted how his mother surprised him with wedding plans on his father’s birthday.

The 43-year-old disclosed this in an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown and the ladies of Your View breakfast show on TVC on Thursday in which he stated that his mother insisted he brings his then girlfriend to his dad’s birthday without knowing she was planning their wedding.

D’banj said he was surprised when his mother presented wedding cake to them after his father’s birthday celebration.

In the Koko Master’s words;

“My mother planned everything. She told me don’t worry, this is what we are going to do, so my dad’s birthday is July 2nd, so we were going to celebrate his birthday. She told me to bring the girl I was dating so they could all see her and questioned if I would marry her. I told her I wasn’t ready, that I wanted to do a big thing. She told me I would definitely do a big wedding, but first, I should bring her for Daddy’s birthday.

“As we finished Daddy’s birthday, they rolled Daddy’s cake and brought out ‘Happy Wedding’. My brother, D’Prince, was there, and he also was as surprised as I was. And till today, I thank her every day of how so far ahead she saw it and how I see social media stories”.

The ‘Gbono Feli Feli’ singer and his wife Lineo Kilgrow got married in June 2016.
