‘Olamide inspired my debut album’ – Victony
  • Victory explained that he wanted to release an EP, because he felt he wasn’t ready to drop an album yet but Olamide encouraged him to release a full-length project.
  • Victony said he gave a shoutout to Olamide on his debut album ‘Stubborn’s’ cover because he inspired the album.

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Victor Anthony, professionally known as Victony, has acknowledged the significant role Olamide played in his music career.

In a recent interview with Channels TV, Victony revealed that Olamide encouraged him to release a full-length album, rather than an EP, which he had initially planned.

Victony expressed his gratitude to Olamide, stating that he was the reason behind his debut album, ‘Stubborn’.

Victony also highlighted Olamide’s willingness to invest time and guidance in the younger generation of artists, which he found inspiring.

He said:

“Shout out to Olamide again. Olamide is basically the reason why I have an album. He encouraged me to go for it. I wanted to put out a smaller body of work like an EP because I didn’t think I was ready for an album but after meeting Olamide and the words of encouragement he gave to me..

“Someone at that level making out time for people in my generation to make sure that we are making the right moves and doing what is necessary for our careers, I had to give him a shout out to let people know he was part of everything that has to do with my album.”

The singer had earlier revealed that he would have been an actor if he wasn’t singing .

The 23 year old singer however, admitted that he isn’t great at acting but added that notwithstanding, he would have still given it a trial.
