Musician and activist Seun Kuti recently has shared his thoughts on fatherhood and his personal experiences.
in a recent interview with Timi Agbaje, he expressed that becoming a father is his greatest achievement, highlighting the joy of raising his daughter.
Seun Kuti who has two daughters from two different mothers, acknowledged that he is not close to his first daughter due to a lack of connection with her mother.
He stated:
“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her.
“I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter but to have the joy of that is the greatest achievement of my life for sure”.
When asked about the circumstances surrounding his relationship with his first daughter’s mother, Seun Kuti explained that it’s a complicated situation and no family is perfect.
He clarified that he wasn’t married when his first daughter was born and only had premarital sex twice before her birth.
Timi asked, “How do you have two daughters but you’re close to one and not the other? Were you a single father before you married?”
“No, it’s complicated circumstances; no family is perfect, you know, but I’m not close to the mother of my other daughter.
“I wasn’t married when I had my other daughter; interestingly, I had only had premarital sex twice before my first daughter was born,” Seun replied.

Seun Kuti had earlier revealed some information on his marriage and his views on monogamy that may seem odd in a conservative society like Nigeria.
On the Bahd and Boujee podcast with Moet Abebe and TolaniBaj, Seun Kuti revealed that he has always been a polyamorous kind of person, and that he doesn’t believe in monogamy.
The clearly confused interviewer then asked him about the nature of his currently monogamous relationship with his wife, Yetunde Kuti and his response was simply shocking.
Seun Kuti said that although his marriage is monogamous, he still explores other ‘options’ outside his marital home.
