Daniel Regha knocks Burna Boy, others for mocking new Miss South Africa 2024
  • Daniel Regha on the X platform,  noted that a deaf woman winning the Miss South Africa 2024 shows a representation of inclusivity.
  • This was after Burna Boy reacted to the announcement of the new Miss South Africa 2024, following the withdrawal of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina from the competition.

Media personality Daniel Regha has addressed the backlash against the newly crowned Miss South Africa 2024, criticizing those who mocked the winner.

Daniel Regha noted that the victory of a deaf woman, Mia, represents a milestone in inclusivity and diversity.

He acknowledged the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina’s withdrawal but emphasized that judging Mia based on her skin color is hypocritical and subtly racist.

“A deaf woman just won Miss South Africa for the first time, that’s a show of representation & inclusivity; What happened to Chidimma is unfortunate, but it’s also hypocrisy to mock the winner (Mia) based on her skin colour. That’s subtle racism, & the very same thing we are trying so hard to end.

“I am tired of Africans hating on fellow Africans; We are despised by many foreigners (racists), & also disunited amongst ourselves. Africa is the one place very African should be able to call home, but we continue fighting a never-ending war. The xenophobia, the tribalism, & ethinic bigotory is truly disappointing.”

Recall that Burna Boy had mocked the  outcome of Miss South Africa 2024.

His comment comes in the wake of the controversial withdrawal of contestant Chidimma Adetshina.

Ms Adetshina had announced her exit last Thursday on Instagram amid growing scrutiny over her nationality.

In her statement, she expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during her journey in the pageant.

On Sunday, Burna Boy took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a picture of the newly crowned queen, Le Roux, alongside a cryptic message.

He wrote, “So after all that…” followed by laughing emojis. His post was interpreted by many as a dig at the pageant, sparking debate online.
