Artistes shouldn’t have standards on how they dress – Tems
  • Tems noted that artistes should express their individual styles, stating that people’s uniqueness is what makes them special.
  • She stressed that her choice of dressing is a representation of her sincerity, rather than an attempt to convey a certain message.

Nigerian singer, Tems has shared her thoughts on the importance of individuality in artistic expression.

In a recent interview with Essence Magazine, she suggested that artistes should be free to express themselves through their clothing choices, without adhering to predetermined standards.

Tems emphasized the significance of embracing one’s uniqueness, arguing that it is this distinctiveness that makes each person special.

She said:

“You should be yourself even if something else is expected of you. You win, automatically, when you are yourself, no matter what that looks like. That’s why there’s variety.

“We are different and are not all meant to be the same. And I know there is a standard, but there shouldn’t be a standard for what people should dress like if they are artistes, or what people should dress like if they are women.

“I just feel like we are all unique. There shouldn’t be a requirement. There shouldn’t be a requirement or some kind of expectation that you should dress a certain way.”

In another news, Teni laments boring nature of female artistes, challenges Tems, Ayra Starr, Tiwa Savage, others to a fight.

The singer took to Instagram to share a video, expressing her frustration with the current state of the female entertainment industry, which she deemed “dull and boring”.

Teni suggested that a bit of drama and conflict among the singers would spice up the Afrobeat scene, proposing a series of heated arguments and physical altercations. She envisioned Ayra Starr and Tems engaging in online beef, while she engages Yemi Alade in a physical altercation. Tiwa Savage was also mentioned, with Teni jokingly suggesting the possibility of confronting her and asking, “Mama, what’s wrong with you?”
