‘I cry myself to sleep’ – Ex Miss South Africa contestant, Chidimma Adetshina reveals

Former Miss South Africa contestant, Chidimma Adetshina, has shared her personal experiences and challenges encountered in her pageantry journey.

In a recent interview, she discussed her struggles with identity issues related to her dual Nigerian-South African citizenship.

Chidimma Adetshina spoke about her decision to pursue pageantry full-time, citing her ambition to compete for the Miss Universe title. According to her she has held this dream since 2017 and is grateful for the opportunity to work towards it.

Chidimma Adetshina also discussed her experiences managing her identity crisis, describing it as a difficult and emotional journey.

She revealed that she has had moments of self-doubt but ultimately shifted her perspective to focus on the potential for growth and greatness emerging from these challenges.

She said:

“I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that goal”.

“It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’. I had to shift my perspective to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges.”

Chidimma Adetshina came back to Nigeria for Miss Universe Nigeria after 20 years .

She arrived in Lagos on Wednesday and expressed her excitement about reconnecting with her roots.

“I’m just thrilled to be back in my father’s land after 20 years,” Chidimma shared with the press.

She expressed her gratitude to the Silverbird Group for giving her the opportunity to compete after she was forced to withdraw from the Miss South Africa pageant due to a nationality dispute and xenophobic attacks.

In addition to her modeling career, Chidimma is also pursuing a law degree and plans to continue her education after the pageant. She said:

“I’m a law student, and once I graduate, I’d like to further my studies in that field,”
