Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has shared his opinions on the life and legacy of Afrobeats pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

In a recent interview on the ‘Echoo Room’ podcast with Quincy Jonze, Portable stated that Fela’s early passing could be attributed to his involvement in social and political issues, stating that he might have lived longer if he had focused on his personal life.

“According to what we were told, if Fela had minded his business a little he would have lived longer. But he was busy fighting for Nigerians wey no fight for their selves.”

Portable also addressed his online feud with rapper Zlatan Ibile.

He recounted his fallout with Davido, claiming that he was enjoying his tour and working to better his future in the United States when Davido invited him to have fun, only for Zlatan to interfere which eventually caused his relationship with Davido to deteriorate.

Additionally, Portable criticized Carter Efe, alleging that he had been pestering him for a feature. However, he did have kind words for Wizkid, praising him as the first person to shower him with dollars on stage.

Portable’s unfiltered comments have sparked a heated debate, with some fans defending his right to express himself, while others have condemned his harsh words towards fellow artists.
