Why Speed Darlington’s arrest by Burna Boy was merciful – Oyemykke
  • Oyemykke addressed Burna Boy’s issue with Speed Darlington as a civil case, stating that it could’ve gone bad if it had been handled differently.
  • According to him, if Burna Boy had handled Speed his normal way, it would’ve been a bad day for everyone.

Content creator Oyemykke has offered a unique perspective on the recent arrest of Speed Darlington by Burna Boy, suggesting that the outcome could have been far worse.

Following Speed Darlington’s release, Oyemykke framed the situation as a civil matter that could have escalated into something more serious.

Oyemykke acknowledged that Burna Boy’s approach to the situation was merciful, stating that he could have taken a more aggressive approach, as suggested by Speed Darlington’s defamatory videos. Instead, Burna Boy chose to handle the matter through legal means.

In a recent statement, Oyemykke emphasized that Burna Boy’s actions were restrained, considering his reputation for standing up for himself.

Oyemykke noted that if Burna Boy had confronted Speed Darlington directly, the outcome might have been dire.

“Burna Boy’s arrest of Akpi is a civil case; una suppose don know say dem beg Burna to use police because normally, he should beat the hell out of him; that’s the Burna I know. Else, you’d have found Akpi’s body,” he stated in Yoruba language.

Speed Darlington was released from police custody few hours ago, following his arrest.

His lawyer Deji Adeyanju announced this on X on Tuesday night.

Adeyanju earlier said his client was arrested in Lagos last Friday and then transferred to Abuja.

According to him, Speed Darlington’s detention stemmed from a formal complaint filed by singer Burna Boy. He was accused of defaming and cyberstalking the Grammy Award winner.

In his post on X, Adeyanju appreciated those who contributed to the singer’s release and commended the police for their professionalism. He wrote:

“Special appreciation to Egbon @YeleSowore, super reliable senior lawyer @stanalieke and to all Nigerians for raising their voice for Speed Darlington. Must also appreciate Prof Sanusi and his team at IRT for the professionalism today.”
