“The surgery costs only N200k, not N30M” – Dentist calls out Jarvis’ GoFundMe

A Nigerian dentist has challenged the N30 million GoFundMe campaign launched by TikTok star Jarvis, who is currently battling a mouth tumor.

The campaign was initiated by Jarvis and her boyfriend, Peller, to gather support for her urgent medical needs.

Peller had appealed to fans for financial assistance to meet the hefty target required for Jarvis’s surgery.

However, shortly after the campaign was announced, dentist @Dentalgiorgio took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disbelief at the amount being sought.

“Not to be a spoiler, but this so called surgery costs about 200k in my centre, adding tests, biopsy, admission charges and feeding, it’s not up to 500k talk less of a million. This is a detty December fundraising. That’s all I can say,” he wrote while quoting the video.

Supporting the dentist’s claim, another user identified as @Phatill highlighted that the cost of the tumor surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) was approximately N405,000 as of the previous year.

“Exactly #405,000 at LASUTH this time last year. Social media is a hard drug,” she added.
