In a recent development, media personality, Morayo Brown has come out in defence of her colleague, Akashat Ny’mat, who had criticized Davido’s comments.
Brown, the managing director of TVC Entertainment, responded to Davido’s reaction to the viral video of Ny’mat’s criticism.
Davido’s initial comments, made during a radio show, had sparked a heated debate among Nigerians. The singer had stated that returning to Nigeria was not a viable option due to the country’s economic struggles. While some Nigerians agreed with Davido’s assessment, others were quick to criticize his comments. Ny’mat on her part was among those who criticized Davido during a TV show.
Brown defended Ny’mat’s right to express her opinions, stating that the show was designed to accommodate diverse views.
She also pointed out that when she and her colleagues had celebrated Davido’s wedding to Chioma, it had gone unnoticed. Brown expressed her support for Ny’mat, urging her to keep speaking her mind.
In her words:
“One of the HARDEST part of hosting our show is that no matter what you say on that table, people will listen through a filter. The show was created for regular women to express their views. Party or ownership of the station was never a factor in any of the ladies being hired. Sadly, the last elections painted women who came to a TV station to do their work with a political brush. This is the hardest part of waking up every morning to do this show.
@akashatnymat you spoke your mind just as @tmospeaks did in support of @davido The show was designed for diverse views to be spoken and respected even if we don’t like it. When we all dressed up to celebrate Chioma and Davido’s wedding, they did not see. When you openly yabbed Kogi state Governor, when you criticize Gov. Sanwoolu about task force in your area, Minister of Works about Apapa, Power Minister even the presidency on their policy flipflop, they don’t see. It’s the one you speak in support they choose to see. Sister, I stand with you. Keep your head up! Nothing do you. Love you loads 🥰🥰🥰.”
