Joseph Aloba, the father of late Nigerian artist Mohbad, has spoken out against criticism surrounding his music career.

He said:

“I taught Mohbad how to sing, I’m a gospel singer, he was a HipHop artist. After this thing happened, I see his songs as an easier way for me to mourn. I remember him through singing.

“I sing whenever I remember him, but people don’t see it that way. I did a record before his death, but it was not popular, but now people are focusing on me, and they know the kind of thing I’m doing. It is not that I started singing after his death. Very soon another album will be out.”

Aloba also shared his concerns about the changes in Mohbad’s mother’s behavior following her son’s death.

He noted that during Mohbad’s life, he had made efforts to foster family unity, but after his demise, he found his mother’s behavior confusing.

“I don’t understand the mother. I was thinking we would come back together to find justice; unfortunately, I was surprised with the way she behaved. Mohbad was trying to bring us together when he was alive, but suddenly when the boy passed away, she changed totally.

“They had their meeting separately, then invited me later. That was where I sparked. I don’t know exactly what is happening with her”, he expressed.

Regarding the investigation into Mohbad’s death, Aloba expressed his disappointment with the Lagos State Police’s handling of the matter, stating, “I’m not pleased with how the Lagos State Police handled the case.

Joseph Aloba expressed concerns regarding the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

He stated that he is disappointed with the Lagos State Police’s handling of the case, citing that key individuals who lived with Mohbad have not been thoroughly investigated.

He stated:

“I’m not pleased with how the Lagos State Police handled the case.

“When Mohbad was alive, he was living with 15 people. After his death, those 15 people are moving freely. They should have called them to order to ask them. I’m not okay with their investigation. Some of his friends were invited, but those people who lived with him are moving freely; they are not being investigated.

“I remember when I invited someone who embalmed Mohbad to the police; could you believe the police were advising me that bygone is bygone? I want to know what exactly killed Mohbad.”
