“Men should stop killing women over alleged infidelity” – Actress Joke Silva
  • Joke Silva expressed her deep concerns regarding the recent incidents of women being murdered by their partners in the country due to suspected infidelity.
  • She asserted that men who take the lives of their partners over allegations of infidelity ought to receive life sentences.

Veteran actress Joke Silva has voiced her concerns about the recent surge in incidents of women being killed by their partners, allegedly due to suspicions of infidelity.

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Joke Silva expressed her outrage and advocated for very strict punishments for perpetrators.

The veteran actress emphasized that men who commit such heinous crimes should face life imprisonment, citing that it is a big offense.

She questioned the logic behind killing someone over unproven allegations of infidelity, highlighting the double standard that exists in society.

The actress also stressed that even if there is evidence of cheating, it is never an excuse for violence or murder.

She said:

“These men should be tried and put in jail for life because it is a capital offence. The law should take its course because it’s ridiculous. Men cheat all the time. Do they get killed? Do they get burnt? What rubbish is that? Where’s the proof that she cheated? And what about the man who she cheated with, what would happen to him? Is he supposed to go scot-free?”

“It’s so bad. Even if there’s evidence of cheating, why can’t you just carry your bag and leave? Or send the woman back to her parents? If you investigate properly, you’ll probably find that the murderer has cheated a million times, yet he’s killing his partner in one instance.

“The women who are dead now are people’s children and mothers too.”

Joke Silva further emphasized the importance of enforcing sanctions for bad behavior, stating that this is a crucial form of advocacy.

She believes that the entertainment industry has a role to play in addressing these issues, but that it is ultimately up to the justice system to hold perpetrators accountable.

She said:

“How much advocacy do you want the industry to do? One of the best forms of advocacy is enforcing sanctions for bad behaviour. This isn’t just bad behaviour; it is criminal.”
