“He did the right thing” – May Edochie’s lawyer speaks on 2baba’s divorce and new partner saga

• Legal expert, Emeka Ugwuonye has praised 2Baba due to the manner he handled his divorce from Annie Idibia.
• He averred that 2baba understands that he needs to divorce his ex-wife, Annie Idibia before marrying another woman, rather trying to gaslight people with African traditions and polygamy just as Yul Edochie did.

May Edochie’s lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye has weighed in on 2baba’s saga.

Ugwuonye praised 2Baba’s approach to his separation from Annie Idibia, noting that the singer has followed the legal route rather than resorting to cultural justifications for polygamy.

In his statement, Ugwuonye emphasized that 2Baba first made his separation from Annie public before proceeding with a divorce filing. He commended the musician for not attempting to manipulate public sentiment by claiming a sudden embrace of polygamous traditions, a move that was seen in Yul Edochie case.

The lawyer also pointed out that 2Baba is not seeking to take Natasha Osawuru as a second wife but rather intends to legally dissolve his marriage with Annie before marrying Natasha. He described this as a responsible and law-abiding approach.

Ugwuonye further expressed hope that the divorce proceedings between 2Baba and Annie will be handled lawfully and concluded without unnecessary complications. He wished the singer and Natasha well in their future together once the legal matters are finalized.

We heard from 2Face that he is planning to marry Ms. Natasha Osawaru. We admit that a married man can fall out of love with his wife and develop love feelings toward another woman. That is possible. However, such a man, if married under the Marriage Act of Nigeria, must first divorce his current wife before getting married to the second woman.

2Face seems to have done things the right way. He first announced his separation from his wife, Annie, and the fact that he had filed for divorce. He is not planning to be a polygamist. He knows that he must divorce his current wife before marrying Natasha. To that extent, they are complying with the law. 2Face had done well in that regard. He did not try to gaslight the nation with some new-found love for African traditions and polygamy.

We hope that his divorce from Annie will be concluded in accordance with the law. And after that, we wish him and Natasha a happy marriage.”
