Police reveal next step as Portable reaches Ogun Police HQ

• Portable has arrived the custody of the Ogun State Police Command after he was declared wanted for assault on government officials.
• The singer voluntarily surrendered himself to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba on Wednesday, February 19.
• The singer is set to answer to the authorities over his alleged involvement in an attack on officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
• The officials of the Ogun State government were reportedly attacked at his Odogwu Bar and Restaurant while conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is now in the custody of Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta hours after he turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.

He is set to answer questions over an attack on some government officials.

Recall Portable was declared wanted for assault on some officials of the state Town Planning Agency who were carrying out enforcement on his property in the Ilogbo area of the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ogun police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed Portable was in their custody. Odutola said:

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025.

“His presence at the SCID is connected to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.”

After Portable was declared wanted for his reported involvement in a violent altercation with three town planning officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were conducting an enforcement exercise in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, the singer went into hiding.

He claimed he wasn’t involved in the violent attack and appealed to both the Federal and Ogun State government.

The singer also claimed that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment in Ogun State. The police, however, dismissed his ‘Madman’ claim, insisting that he remained wanted for an ongoing investigation.

Hours after, Portable took to his Instagram story to hint at voluntarily surrendering to the Police and again tendered an apology to the Ogun state government, stating that fear made him abscond.
