Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has shared his thoughts on forgiveness and infidelity.

In a candid interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, discussed his experiences with his wife, Tanesha Johnson, while he was serving a 13-year prison sentence.

Kartel revealed that he discovered Tanesha’s alleged infidelity through his other baby mama while he was still in prison.

He stated that despite feeling hurt and betrayed, he chose to forgive Tanesha, recognizing her humanity and the challenges she faced during his time in prison.

The singer emphasized that his decision to forgive was not taken lightly, but rather as a result of understanding the complexities of human relationships.

He acknowledged Tanesha’s years of loyalty and support, which made her moment of weakness more relatable.

“But I still respect her because I understand [she is a] human being… I forgave her immediately because I understand, but I just had to move on,” he said.

“She was there right through, but come on, I am in prison for f**king 13 years; what do you expect her to do? Like, save the p**sy?”.

It’s worth noting that Kartel was released from prison in August 2024, after serving time for charges related to two alleged murders. Throughout his imprisonment, Tanesha remained a constant public supporter, maintaining their domestic relationship despite the challenges they faced.

Speaking during an interactive session with 15 young leaders at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Obasanjo shared how his outspoken nature led to his arrest. According to Obasanjo, his refusal to remain silent on national and international issues landed him in prison.

“Going into prison is really a challenge because I refuse to keep quiet. For me, if there is anything to comment on, I did comment on them, and so, I landed in prison,” he recalled.

He further explained that the challenges he faced in prison came as a result of his unwavering commitment to speak out on issues he deemed important.
